William Myers

William Myers is a comic book enthusiast and creator. He has his own unique speciality creating fun and quirky comic books within the field of illustration. Myers uses a popping party of mediums associated with the creation of comics including character design, typography, perspective drawings and concept art.

Larry's Lorry Comic
Larry's Lorry Comic Myers' Final Major Project comic book project titled Larry's Lorry contains a variety of toilet, gross, slapstick and surrealistic humour. Inspired by British comedy rooted in TV shows such as The Comic Strip Presents, Bottom and Horrible Histories, as well as British comic book titles such as The Beano, Viz and Oink!. The comic contains a limited colour palette of yellow, green and black with the slogan “Too Gross for Grown Ups!” The toilet humour gags used for Larry's Lorry include the character Larry having toilet paper hanging from his jeans, a toilet supply company called Bog & Log and fart moments.
Poster Design
Poster Design Three poster designs accompany and advertise Larry's Lorry, with limited exposure to the toilet humour gags in the comic. Each of the three posters were printed in risograph format resulting in a limited colour palette of yellow and black. They were digitalised in Photoshop.

The Adventures of Colin the Curious in Looking Through the Rose-Tinted Glasses ComicAn eight panel comic strip where the character of Colin goes through a vivid journey through Utopia, inspired by the poems of Greek Mythology Homer's Odyssey and Five Ages of Man. The comic was illustrated using Illustrator and Photoshop in a 1930s rubber-hose cartoon style and uses the colours rose and gold.
3D Design
3D DesignThe Coco project in the third-year was Myers' first commissioned/live-competition project where he was assigned to use his illustration style and comic book speciality as packaging for Glasgow based Chocolatier Coco. The resulting designs for Coco have a strong but quirky use of character design and imagery inspired by mid-century illustrations & American Pop-Art from artists Roy Litchenstein & Andy Warhol. They also use old-school, retro visuals and characters making a comeback.
WM Comics 3D Design
WM Comics 3D DesignMyers' comic book brand also features the use of product design. This outcome showcases 3D artefact design of a poker set, consisting of coloured chips, each containing an illustration from past projects on the illustration course from the first and second years. Created using InDesign. The outcome also comes with a card pack, designed using Photoshop.
