Rory Swift

At Ravensbourne University Rory Swift has worked as a studio technical assistant, shot EP covers, fashion campaigns, BTS for short films, events such as the London Marathon, London Fashion Week, and worked with numerous up and coming fashion designers and other creatives.

His recent work is heavily influenced by the different people and cultures found in London. In an effort to understand and learn more about loved ones, he has used photography as a way to research the Polish community, culture and its tradition. Mixing fashion and editorial photography, with storytelling and elements of documentary and cultural anthropology he has created a new book telling the story and highlighting the old Slavic gods Marzanna and Devana. Featuring monochrome images, and inspired by old school film photography, this work reflects his artistic vision and values, with moments of introspection, connection, and cultural exploration. Heavily inspired by photographers Alys Tomlinson, Clare Richardson, and Laura Pannack it features work with storytelling elements, exploring themes of mythology, religion and most importantly people and the history behind them. Swift's ambition is to have a fine art documentary practice that he can sustain with an editorial and commercial photography practice. Whether through publications, or participation in exhibitions, he is unwavering in his commitment to showcasing storytelling and the endless possibilities of human experience through the lens of a camera.
