Mya Momi-Francis
Mya Momi–Francis is a film director and singer from East London. She is a passionate storyteller, dedicated to creating stories that celebrate and centre women of colour. When it comes to filmmaking, her style is evocative, imaginative, emotional and bold. Momi–Francis has experience in writing, directing and developing short films, commercials, and music videos, as well as live performance, songwriting, vocal arrangement and studio work. She also does a lot of location sound mixing work and is proficient in most industry standard sound mixing equipment.
A Cup of Chai – A Cup of Chai, co-written by Kimaya Surti and Mya Momi-Francis, tells the story of a British-Indian mother and daughter, struggling to see eye-to-eye in the run-up to the daughter's wedding. When Priya, realises her mother has planned details of her wedding behind her back, she must summon the courage to communicate that she doesn't want her mother's traditional guidance.
