Matilde Eiras Cação is a design student who is passionate about designing products that weave together science, aesthetics and creativity to not only make a product more effective, but sustainable. Cação is particularly drawn to all kinds of biomaterials, playful designs, scientific concepts, and products with a mental health focus. Speculative design is a key interest of hers as this design method asks designers to consider the future to create meaningful, solution-oriented design.

Being quadrilingual (English, German, Portuguese, Spanish) enables Cação to gain first-hand insight into design niches and perspectives across cultural backgrounds. She values design that impacts people and the environment on a global scale.

Running her own fashion and accessories business since 2021 (Mazita Creations on Etsy and @mazita_creations on Instagram) has taught her branding skills and how to communicate well with customers including accepting feedback to improve the user experience. These skills are behind her reviews that average 5 stars.

Next year, Cação will pursue a degree in Product Design and Technology BSc at Loughborough University to reach industries such as biodesign, product design and textile design. Cação has skills in: Onshape, Solidworks, Adobe Photoshop, Creation of garments and accessories.
