Laurence Chapman is a BA (Hons) Architecture student. He has honed expertise across crucial domains in architecture, extensive architectural design with a focus on functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability. His ability extends to building technology, environmental sustainability, and digital design tools like Photoshop and Rhino. After three years studying architecture and six years exploring diverse creative subjects, Chapman's approach to architecture has evolved significantly. Drawing from this diverse background, he brings a nuanced understanding and broader perspective to his design practice, integrating elements from art, design, and other creative fields to innovate and enrich his architectural work. His primary strength lies in generating inventive ideas and proficiently conveying them through software like Rhino 7, VRAY, and Lumion. Quick to learn new programs, Chapman demonstrates adaptability and versatility in his design approach. Additionally, his keen interest in 3D model-making enhances his ability to visualise and communicate architectural concepts effectively.

Year 2 by Laurence Chapman – In Chapman's second year, he delved into various software tools while developing a proposal for a healthcare centre in Brick Lane, London. Emphasising functionality, safety, adaptability for future requirements, and patient privacy, his design aimed to serve the community effectively. Alongside, Chapman envisioned a vibrant kiosk to enhance the area's ambiance, catering to the bustling foot traffic and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.

Year 3 Semester 1 by Laurence Chapman – Chapman thoroughly enjoyed the visit to the Zaha Hadid Foundation, where we were tasked with enhancing the existing building. His proposal involved a significant extension at the rear, providing ample workspace and introducing a dedicated area for relaxation. Addressing a deficiency in the building's amenities, this addition aimed to foster a more dynamic and comfortable environment for its occupants.

Year 3 Semester 1 by Laurence Chapman – This page showcases quick interior and exterior sketches detailing the proposed extension's design, along with material choices and the intended ambiance of the spaces. These illustrations offer a glimpse into how the extension will seamlessly integrate with the existing structure, while conveying the envisioned atmosphere and functionality of the new areas.

Year 3 Final Major Project by Laurence Chapman – My proposal is to establish an arts and community centre adjacent to Southwark Park in London. Art serves as a catalyst for personal growth, fostering creativity, emotional expression, and diverse perspectives. Simultaneously, cultivating a learning mindset promotes adaptability and problem-solving skills. The centre’s floor plans outline versatile spaces for artistic activities and community engagement, offering a glimpse of its design principles. A thoughtfully designed facade welcomes visitors, while intuitive circulation paths enhance accessibility. Skylights strategically positioned within art studios infuse the spaces with natural light, fostering an inspiring environment for creative expression.
