Emma Burns

Emma Burns is a London based illustrator who uses mostly digital art to tell a story. Her illustrations are inspired by cartoons/animation with prominent line art and vibrant colours. She uses gradients and a carefully considered colour palette to create a dreamlike and at times nostalgic quality to her work.

Burns has produced a range of projects throughout her time at Ravensbourne University, with the most recent being her board game Witch Island. She has also worked on other physical projects such as risograph printing, screen printing, stop motion animation and designing packaging.

Burns enjoys the process of making and seeing her ideas come to life throughout her projects. She makes thumbnail sketches for each project to help visualise the end result and explore some ideas. She is always willing to try new techniques to work with and has recently started to involve 3D modelling in her work.

Burns has spent the past three years developing a visual voice that suits her way of working and represents the kind of work she wishes to do professionally.
