Daniella Gyambibi-Peters
Daniella Gyambibi-Peters, also known as “obaabi”, is a Ghanaian-Irish illustrator and animator. Inspired by her upbringing and the environments around her, the art she creates generally has an emphasis on black representation, empowerment and self-love. She enjoys the process of turning negative feelings and situations into positive ones through art and colour. This results in fun, colourful art that aims to motivate and uplift others.
She is also the founder of “obaabi house”, a brand that encapsulates all her creative pursuits and hobbies, and fosters community by inviting everyone into her “house”.

An Ideal Escape – This GIF is part of a project exploring the theme of Utopia. The work explores what utopia looks like to Daniella Gyambibi-Peters.
The Dreamer – This illustration was created as part of the Live Competition module. Gyambibi-Peters was inspired to create different characters who represent a particular hobby or personality, e.g. the dreamer, the nature lover, etc.
Wavy Life Animated Music Video – Gyambibi-Peters shot and animated this music video by herself for a university project. She was able to collaborate with Tee Peters to create something that he was happy with and able to publish.
