Bhuvi Pugalendhi

Bhuvi Pugalendhi's aim is to create wearable garment/artworks focusing on traditional textile and textures, which explores her culture and personal perspectives. “The Last Farmers” is the latest womenswear collection inspired by her Indian heritage. The collection highlights her journey on exploring her Indian heritage through indigenous knowledge of farming while reviving the ancient methods of farming and Indian craftsmanship's.

Experimenting with a variety of techniques, like natural dyeing, creating sustainable prints using henna, reviving ancient painting though storytelling prints, a vibrant earthy colour palette, beading techniques, Pugalendhi was able to construct an outfit that represents how a culture can never be forgotten and always will be honoured and passed through generations. Pugalendhi always uses sustainable materials to create awareness on her projects.

Pugalendhi creative abilities around textiles have been enhanced by this foundation course and her refined skills in using digital platforms like photoshop and illustration, which she will use to further her career and achieve her goal of becoming a textile designer.

Experimentation on prints, by reviving the ancient painting technique, Pugalendhi was able to create prints on stages of farming using Warli art. A vibrant and earthly palette patterns on the bottom were inspired by the movement of paddy crops and geometric lines.
